some questions after installing mighty sites

Post by tea »

Hello, I've successfully installed mighty sites on my joomla but got a few questions.

site A = My main site
site B = Mini-site which has different menus and template but use all data sources from site A. Uses site A's database with different prefix.

1. What does "Data Replacements" in data source option exactly mean?

2. When I made site B, mighty sites copied 200 tables of DB from site A. But since site B is configured to use all data source from site A, aren't those 200 tables never used and unneccessary? I mean, in theory.

3. If I wanted to add some extensions or plugins to all my websites, do I have to manually add them on every mini sites I created with mighy sites or is there any way to snyc those changes applied to the site A?

It's one of the best joomla component by the way. Hope to see more updates.

1. It controls the source of loading for content.
2. In theory these tables are not used, but better keep them for possible future Joomla updates etc.
3. Your mini site can load Extensions from main site, but it will also require sharing of Menus from main site. So still better to install the extension separately in each site.

If I need to install extensions on the mini-sites, does that mean MultiSites only helps with the cloning and maintenance of Joomla? Also do I need to have any concerns regarding which template company I choose to use?

You can install extensions as usual and use any templates.

If you install the same extension on site B...won't it install over the existing one for site A? Meaning it will replace the files.. so you need to make sure you install exact same version on each site right?

Errors can happen.

You can create a ticket in Support Center and we can take a look.
In most cases installing same version helps.

Hi, I'm confused by the above.
When installing, and more importantly, upgrading extensions, do I have to upgrade the extension on every slave site, or just on one slave site, after which it will upgrade on all slave sites?
