Auto-LogIn from J2.5 to J3 and the other way round

Post by Nurat »

Hi Support-Team,

is it possible to connect a J2.5 Installation with the J3.15 installation?

If I run older 2.5 Sites and want to start a community with JomSocial that is on J3.0. All the registered users from 2.5 should be able to login to this new community site with their old logins.

And if possible the new users of the community should be able to login from the J3.0 to the old J2.5 installation.

Thank you for a quick response if possible.

Regards
Nurat

Yes, you can share Users between 2.5 and 3.1 sites, so both sites will always have same users: i.e. 3.1 will load users from 2.5 database.

Does this mean MightySites supports administration of multiple Joomla! versions (v2.5 and v3.1) from a single 'master' installation?

Each site has own backend as usual.

Since users can be shared you can manage users from Joomla 3.1 database in Joomla 2.5 site and vice-versa.

Yes, actually you can have 2 websites with own hosting accounts (own files as usual) but sharing users, so all users will be always same in both sites.

Both sites should use same MySQL server and MySQL user of slave site should have access to database of master site (slave site will use users database tables of master site).

Does it mean data will be syncrinized between 2 database ( user data only) or slave site will use data directly master database?

For 2 separate installed joomla site still single sign on will work ?

Thank you :)

MightySites doesn't synchronize data, it shares data: both sites will use same database tables.

Single login will work for separate sites, but they all should share users.
