It has synonyms: a synonym has own title, all other properties like image and description text are inherited from master term.
Synonym title is highlighted in text just like it's a usual term, but description of master term is displayed in popup.

Yes, you can be logged in master site, next go to slave site - you will be not logged here, so you can register as usual.
Note that if slave site shares users - you can register with same username / email as you have in master site.
